Peter Villegas is first vice president and regional manager of Corporate Affairs for Washington Mutual. He is responsible for overseeing all external affairs and government relations throughout Southern California.

In his position, Villegas is involved in building community coalitions, overseeing the Washington Mutual Community Council and regional Washington Mutual diversity advisory groups.

He also provides regional management for Washington Mutual's $120 billion commitment to the communities that it serves.

Prior to joining Washington Mutual in 1994, Villegas served as community outreach coordinator for American Savings. He has 10 years banking experience.

Villegas graduated from Fullerton College specializing in business administration.

He is a board member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute based in Washington, D.C; past president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Orange County; a corporate advisory member of the Latin Business Association; a board member of the USC Mexican-American Alumni Association; a board member of the Puente Learning Center; a past chairman of the board of the Challengers Boys and Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles; a board and housing committee member of the Chicano Federation of San Diego; a board member of the Orange County Neighborhood Housing Services; and was appointed by Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez to serve on the Orange County affordable housing steering committee.

Villegas received the 1997 Minorities in Business "Latin American" corporate award and the 1997 city of Santa Ana "Exceptional Volunteer Service" award.

Villegas lives in Rancho Cucamonga with his wife Vickie.
