I’m writing to share a special video of Barack talking
about fatherhood, but first I want to share some thoughts of my own.
My father, Frasier Robinson, was the rock of our family.
Although he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in his early thirties, he
was our provider, our champion and our hero.
He worked tirelessly through good days and bad to make
sure my brother and I had every opportunity he didn't -- to go to college and
pursue our dreams. His example continues to guide me every day.
Barack didn't have my good fortune -- his father left
when he was just two years old. But he has always been determined to give our
daughters what he never had, and he values being a good father more than any
other accomplishment in his life.
On Friday, Barack brought some men (and a bunch of kids!)
to the White House to talk about fatherhood. Check out a video of the event:
We all know the remarkable impact fathers can have in our
children's lives. So today, on this 100th anniversary of Father's Day, take a
moment to celebrate responsible fatherhood and the men who've had the courage
to step up, be there for our families, and provide our children with the
guidance, love and support they need to fulfill their dreams.
Throughout my life, my father, Bill Clinton, has been the
busiest man I know.
Even now, he's constantly on the go — finding new ways
for his Foundation to make a difference in the fights against climate change,
HIV/AIDS, childhood obesity, and other causes that motivate his hard work.
But, no matter how busy he gets, my dad always has time
to be my dad — to talk about our lives, to laugh together at a funny movie
and, yes, to offer advice when I need it. On this Father's Day, he has a
special message for other dads who, like him, have made fatherhood the number
one priority in their lives.
If you or a father you know shares my father's dedication
to the critical work still ahead on climate change, HIV/AIDS, obesity and the
Foundation's other commitments, please consider including a donation with the
card. I can't think of a better Father's Day gift than one that will be used
immediately to help solve the pressing issues of our time.
Send an e-card today. You can schedule it to arrive on
Father's Day - Sunday, June 21.
Or send a card that includes a special gift in honor of
your father, grandfather, or other dads in your life.
Thanks for your commitment to the Clinton
Happy Father's Day!
I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels.
My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, "This is the Receiving Section. Here, all the petitions to G-d said in prayer are received."
I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.
Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section. The angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them."
I noticed again how busy it was there.
There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth.
Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station.
To my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing.
"This is the Acknowledgment Section," my angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed.
"How is it that there's no work going on here?" I asked.
"So sad," the angel sighed. "After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments."
"How does one acknowledge G-d's blessings?" I asked.
"Simple," the angel answered. "Just say, "Thank you, G-d."
"What blessings should they acknowledge?" I asked.
"If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep ... you are richer than 75% of this world."
"If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy."
"And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity."
Also "If you woke up this morning with more health than illness you are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day."
"If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation ... you are ahead of 700 million people in the world."
"If you can attend a Synagogue Service without fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death ... you are envied by, and more blessed than three billion people in the world.
"If your parents are still alive and still married… You are very rare. If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm, you are unique to all those in doubt and despair."
Ok, what now? How can I start?
If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you as very special and you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.
Have a good day, count your blessings, and if you wish, pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.
Attention: Acknowledge Department. Thank You G-d!
"Thank you G-d for giving me the ability to share this message and for giving me so many wonderful people to share this with."
